Catering

For a healthy start to the day, we include seasonal fruit, vegetables, whole-grain products, cheese, eggs, milk, and tea. Depending on their age and abilities, the children help us prepare the breakfast table. This starts with cutting apples, peeling carrots, setting the table, and ends with washing up.

If there are any leftovers from breakfast, they're taken along on the subsequent walk or into the garden. Most of the time, though, the tables are empty and we have to refill the bowls. No problem, there's plenty. Everyone gets their fill.

The ingredients for our breakfast come from an organic farm known for its high-quality products (www.laemmerhof.de). Breakfast is charged at a monthly flat rate.

The children are actively involved at lunchtime. Even the toddlers help wherever they can. The children serve themselves the food they want. Our dishes consist of beautifully shaped porcelain and glasses. Bowls and jugs for refills are available on the table. The childcare professionals remain discreetly in the background and are available to help if needed.

Our lunch provider is Grönau Catering (www.groenaucatering.de). Operating under the motto "Healthy nutrition instead of just filling your stomach!", they have been successfully on the market since 2012 and offer regional ingredients wherever possible. Parents can order or cancel lunch daily and choose from various meal options (regular, vegetarian, religious, gluten-free, etc.). Ordering and billing are handled by the service provider www.kitafino.de.

Children who stay with us longer in the afternoon receive a small snack.

Water is available to the children all day. While staff closely monitor drinking habits in the nursery, the children gradually become more capable of ensuring they drink enough as they get older. If children need assistance, staff are, of course, on hand to help.

But nutrition education is also part of our daily routine. It offers an opportunity to inspire children about healthy and sustainable eating. This way, they develop an awareness of healthy nutrition and learn about new foods. We explain what sustainability means, raise awareness about the nutritional value of food, cook and bake with the children, and help parents with their questions about nutrition.

We only give sweets on a few occasions. Birthdays, Christmas, and Easter are exceptions. This allows you, dear parents, to give your child a piece of chocolate or an ice cream in the afternoon with a clear conscience. You have the assurance that your child hasn't received any of it at daycare.
